New gargoyles being carved

The stone work project has allowed us to commission three new gargoyles. They are now being carved and should hopefully be ready to come back to Ripon and go into the wall at the end of August or early September. Currently we have large holes in the walls where the old gargoyles once were. Plastic sheeting is guiding the water away from the wall as the gargoyles will do once they are back in place. …

Honorary New Canon Installed

Following a very busy Saturday, when seventeen new deacons were ordained by the Bishop of Leeds, there was more excitement in Ripon Cathedral on Sunday the 5th of July in the afternoon when Canon Wendy Wilby was installed as an Honorary Minor Canon. Canon Wendy retired in July 2013 to Ripon from Bristol Cathedral where she served as the Precentor and as the Dean of Women’s Ministry. In recent months she has been providing welcome …

Goodbye

As with all things, life in the Cathedral changes and this was very much in focus today. We in the  cathedral not only said thank you to the Cathedral Choir for its contributions to the services and worship but also goodbye to those choristers who are leaving at the end of this academic year. New Canon Evangelist Installed

On Sunday the 28th of June Rev’d Ruth Hind was installed as the first ever Canon Evangelist at Ripon Cathedral.
