Visit Ripon Cathedral
Visitors have followed the Pilgrim Trail here for over 1300 years, to enjoy the peace and prayerful tranquillity of this beautiful and ancient centre for Christian faith. Whether you are here to enjoy some special music, explore the ancient crypt, light a candle or simply to enjoy the atmosphere and architecture of this holy building, all are welcome. In order to enhance your visit, Guides and Welcomers are on duty in the Cathedral daily between 10.00am and 4.30pm, who are always delighted to answer your questions.
Free Entry & Opening Times
Ripon Cathedral is open Monday-Saturday between 8.30am & 6.00pm. On a Sunday, the Cathedral is open from 8.30am to 5pm, with the except of during Eucharist. Visitors are invited to join in the worship and explore afterwards.

Within a ten mile radius are the wondrous Yorkshire Dales, and heritage sites such as Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal, and Newby Hall. There is also Lightwater Valley Theme Park. Ripon city centre boasts a range of independent businesses, from the Aladdin’s cave of Grey Finch to the handsome range of delicious produce at Appleton’s butchers. If you’re looking to relax and maybe have something to eat or drink. there is a range of coffee shops, cafes, and country pubs around the city centre. And why not visit the Curzon cinema for a unique viewing experience.
